Julie Daines – Featured Beau Monde Author
Today’s featured Beau Monde author is Julie Daines!
Julie Daines was born in Concord, Massachusetts, and was raised in Utah. She spent eighteen months living in London, where she studied and fell in love with English literature, sticky toffee pudding, and the mysterious guy who ran the kebab store around the corner. She returns to the UK to refill her soul every year or so.
She loves reading, writing, and watching movies—anything that transports her to another world. She picks Captain Wentworth over Mr. Darcy, firmly believes in second breakfast, and never leaves home without her vervain.
A best-selling author, Julie has won several awards for her writing, and her novel, UNRAVELED, was a contender for the ALA’s Schneider Family Book Award. She is a PAN member of RWA, a member of SCBWI, and on the Board of Directors for the LDStorymakers Guild.
Julie’s early exposure to England and Austen has been very influential to her and her writing. She has been in love with Regency ever since she first read Pride and Prejudice and sewed her first gown. Despite her adoration of that era, she takes a more realistic and less romanticized view of that period in her writing. Having traveled England quite extensively and seen the way the other 95% of the population lived at that time made her want to bring that society into her stories as well.
Julie has been a member of Beau Monde for a year now. She really appreciates the generosity of the members in sharing their wisdom and research with each other. Everyone is very supportive and kind.
