Gail Eastwood – Featured Beau Monde Author
Gail Eastwood is a former journalist and rare book dealer who says A.A. Milne and Beatrix Potter made her an Anglophile at a very early age, preparing her for Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer. Her books have won awards including The Golden Leaf for Best Regency, three Reviewer’s Choice nominations, and two Holt Medallion finalists. LORD OF MISRULE was a 2019 Maggie Award finalist. Twice nominated for Romantic Times Magazine’s Career Achievement Award, Gail loves researching and imagining life in Regency England through stories to share with readers. She and her loving husband live in New England, where they enjoy an active involvement with theater and Gail is addicted to her favorite beach in the summer. They are the parents of two adult sons, one of whom is an actor, following in his father’s theatrical footsteps.
What do you love best/what interests you most about the Regency Era?
Gail says, “I love the British Isles at any time period, but Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer tapped into my love of elegance and revealed that the Regency period is my absolute fav. I love the clothes, the characters, and the exciting transitions that were happening between the Georgian and Victorian eras. I think the social and cultural upheavals offer endless opportunities for stories to be told, and also offer a sense of changing times that modern readers can relate to very well.”
What do you like the most about The Beau Monde? How long have you been a member?
Gail says, “I have been a member of the Beau Monde since the very beginning, so more than 25 years. I still recall many late night phone calls when the chapter was in the throes of being born. What do I like best? The camaraderie and the generous exchange of information between our members. Where else can we go to discuss when our characters would have their gloves on or off? 🙂 And I love how we continue to grow and improve, thanks to wonderful leadership.”

I love how Winnie the Pooh helped bring you to the Regency! He’d be such a great supporting character. 🙂
